Snowed
We had some snow this week, and while it was a little inconvenient, it didn’t make life too miserable. I was planning on making a day trip to Boston on Thursday, the day after the storm, but the person I was going to visit was stuck too (in upstate New York), so we decided to have our meeting on Friday on the phone. It turned out all for the best.
I finally got all the pictures off my camera today (yes, to get the picture of the snow…), and found all the pictures of Karl’s wedding.
This one is OK, but the ones I really like need a little bit of editing. So, you may wonder why I don’t just do that? I’ve got Gimp loaded – should be simple, right?
Wrong. Gimp is wonderful, but it’s just so complicated. Being in the software business, you would think this is like falling off a log, but it’s not. I’ve become more impatient with these sorts of things. Actually, I think that I now notice that I’m impatient with these sorts of things.
In any case, when one of the kids visit me some time, I’m sure they will volunteer to help me out. (As I wrote that sentence, I was thinking of the “good daughter”, IYKWIMAITYD) That’s the great thing about them – they are always hanging around, helping me with all the stuff that needs to get done…life just couldn’t be any better.
But back to reality – speaking of reality, there’s a fascinating article in the New Yorker (Feb. 12th Ed.) about Paul and Pat Churchland. They are a couple who have devoted their lives to the study of the mind-body problem. My fascination is both with them as a couple (the article does a wonderful job of conveying their deep affection for one another without being cloying), and the problem that they study (trying to connect what we think and feel to the brain itself). And rather than reading my blathering on the topic, you should read some of the Churchlands' stuff.

Happy New Year, Chinese Style
Soon we'll be announcing "Gung Hei Fat Choy" to one another. The Chinese New Year is on February 18th - It will be the year of the pig.
So what's up with the bit on the right? Ask one of the Danelion Kids herself.
