Big Rock, Vacation, Homebuilding

First, a note to those avid readers of this blog who have been posting comments recommending good and services: please desist. Big Rock, Smugg's Notch The stuff you’re talking about is pretty bogus – like who’s going to be reading my blog, check out the comments and slap their head saying “gosh, you’re right! I need to meet eligible women in my area. I’ll just click on this link…”. (NB: None of the goods and services offered relate to subjects I would touch on in this blog, so I just made that one up because I couldn’t use the real ones)

Right then, on to the big rock. I hope you know the one I’m talking about. It’s in the notch, just past the parking lot. It’s the one with all the body paint on it ‘cauz it’s so close to the road. We drove past it yesterday. We are on vacation and we are not at the lake.

I can perceive the stunned silence from here. I guess an explanation is in order. We were down at the lake last week, planning to be there all this week, and we found we were sitting around thinking “it sure would be nice to be at home working on all those projects we have going on”. So we packed up everything and headed home a week early.

How’s it going you ask? It’s the best vacation we’ve had. Well, aside from our honeymoon which is in a different league, it’s right up there. Wonderful accommodations. Great food (if I do say so myself). The Staff is a little slow to make the bed etc., but we’re coping. Lots of interesting things to do (edging the garden, painting the fence, weed whacking). The fun doesn’t stop. Oh, then there’s the obligatory mid-afternoon swim in the pool. Yep, pretty much fun all around.

Oh, the rock. Wednesday we had had a reasonable amount of around-the-house fun, so we were looking a little further afield. There was an antique shop that simply had to be visited (notable items had been espied a week earlier), and since Johnson is oh-so-close to Stow, we decided to pop over to the Green Mountain Fine Art Gallery and see if there was anything interesting there. Dumb question. The problem was not finding something interesting, there was another problem. I had a number of promised but not delivered gifts that were simultaneously cashed in that afternoon. Not that I’m complaining – I love art, I just wonder why it’s so expensive.

None the less, now our home is looking much prettier on the inside, and I have less money to worry about. Seems like a fair bargain.
