"A college education is not a quantitative body of knowledge salted away in a card file.
It is a taste for knowledge, a taste for philosophy, if you will; a capacity to explore, to question,
to perceive relationships, between fields of knowledge and experience."
- A. Whitney Griswold
Hobart and William Smith Colleges are located in Geneva, New York; a little chilly in the winter, a little warm in the summer, but beautiful all year long. By the way, just to clarify, Hobart and William Smith are separate colleges. I do not go to Hobart College. Do not make this mistake, as it is quite common and has the potential of becoming rather annoying.
Despite some academic issues with the school, combined with serious personal challenges, I had a realtively enjoyable first year at William Smith. I joined the crew team in the fall, which became the only thing keeping me at William Smith. Sophomore year was somewhat frustrating, as academics still weren't providing much of a challenge, so I decided to travel abroad to South Africa for the spring of my Junior year! I had a great time there, admiring the gorgeous landscape and meeting all sorts of fun and interesting people, but it's also good to be back in Geneva for my senior year.
I'm going to graduate in the spring with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics (yeah, math), because it's the subject I tend to enjoy the most here. I'm minoring in a program called the Good Society, basically only because I couldn't minor in sociology (since my major is disciplinary, my minor must be interdisciplinary). So, what is Rebecca going to do with a math major? That's the question of the week...or of my college career...or of my life...
